A briefing devoted to the launch of the third edition of the “Don’t Kill – Drive Safely!” information and education campaign, as well as the police’s “Candle” operations, was held in the parking lot by the Military Cemetery at Powązki in Warsaw.
The primary aim of the campaign, which supports, among other things, the “Candle” operations, is to remind and make drivers aware that failure to comply with regulations, speeding and driving after consuming alcohol are significant factors affecting the number of road accidents and their consequences.
National Police Headquarters:
This year, the campaign’s message is “Don’t Kill – Drive Safely!” and is primarily an appeal from pedestrians to drivers, passengers to drivers and drivers to drivers to obey the regulations and share responsibility for the safety, health and lives of all road users.
Road accidents are the cause of many human tragedies. Every accident is a chain of cause and effect. Often, seemingly insignificant behaviours or accumulated situations can contribute to an unfortunate incident.
However, we have an influence on many of them.
What should we remember?
- let us not take bad moods and emotions with us on the road, because unfortunately we very often pass them on to others, and this may affect road safety
- it is not the car that should think on the road, but the human being!
- this year, All Saints’ Day falls on Friday; increased car traffic should be expected on Polish roads, and pedestrians and cyclists will also be more numerous around cemeteries and metropolitan areas. Variable autumn weather additionally has an adverse effect on travel conditions, including visibility and road safety.
Police officers:
We appeal for conscious and responsible behaviour on the road, as well as kindness and empathy from all road users.
