– We want to make pedestrians aware that a small reflective item can save their lives – says Oliwia Dobiesz from Bolesławiec’s Mrówka. The Mrówka team visits children in schools and gives presentations about a safe journey to school, promoting road safety.

The campaign entitled “SAFE JOURNEY TO SCHOOL” is being held in schools throughout the City and Municipality of Bolesławiec.

Why a reflective band?

It is a small reflective item that can easily be attached, for example, to an arm, leg, backpack or another visible place.

After dark, in a poorly visible area, a car driver may notice a pedestrian only from a distance of 30 metres. Sometimes it may already be too late, because when driving in a built-up area at 50 km/h, the driver has only 2 seconds to react; at around 90 km/h, this time is reduced to 1 second.

Reflective items make it possible to see a pedestrian from a much greater distance – even up to 150–200 metres, which increases the reaction time several times over.

We encourage everyone to wear reflective items, especially in autumn, when the days are getting shorter.
