The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 22, after 10 p.m. The driver of a Kia, a 36-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County, crashed into a bus stop on Gałczyńskiego Street, near the garages and not far from ZEC.
The man stopped the car one street away. He tried to flee the scene, but witnesses, including a 34-year-old man from Bolesławiec, detained him near the Housing Cooperative building.
As it turned out, the 36-year-old was completely drunk. He had nearly 3 per mille of alcohol in his system. He could now face up to five years in prison.
We were informed about the incident by a reader, who was also disappointed by the lack of response to the debris left after the collision:
At 10 p.m., a car crashed into the bus stop. I do not know exactly how the collision happened, but I do know about the emergency services’ intervention. Immediately after the incident, we called 112 several times. Only one police car arrived and stopped near Żabka; the officers began inspecting the car.
Of course, the scene was not secured in any way; there were shards of glass and stains from an unknown substance on the road. I called again. I was told that the police were at the scene and knew about everything, and that they would come by later. I explained exactly what the situation on the road looked like. Unfortunately, that did not happen.
It is 11:20 p.m., and there is still no one here. I will add photos showing what it looks like.
As one of our readers informed us in the morning, the road had not been cleared.
