Officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters caught two men red-handed as they attempted to steal items from the site of a former chemical plant.
When they saw the police car, the perpetrators tried to flee, but the officers thwarted their attempt. The suspects were arrested; they are both 34-year-old men from Bolesławiec and Zgorzelec counties. Both were charged with attempted theft.
What is more, it emerged that the 34-year-old from Zgorzelec County had been driving under the influence of drugs. Furthermore, the man is subject to a court-ordered driving ban.
In addition, police found various items in the suspects' vehicle that may point to other criminal activities by the duo. Officers are now determining what else the two 34-year-olds may have been involved in.
Both suspects could face up to five years in prison.
