This year’s floral arrangements of windows, balconies and gardens were assessed by a competition committee consisting of:

  • Stanisława Zięcik – representative of the Society of Bolesławiec Enthusiasts
  • Adam Biesiadecki – councillor of the Bolesławiec City Council, deputy chair of the Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Construction Committee
  • Joanna Sawicka – Knowledge Centre – Municipal Public Library, manager of the Municipal Centre for Environmental Education
  • Małgorzata Rychert – inspector at the Public Procurement and Investment Department of Bolesławiec City Hall.

The competition is conducted in five categories:

  • most beautifully flower-adorned window
  • most beautifully flower-adorned balcony
  • most beautifully flower-adorned garden in a multi-family residential development
  • most beautifully flower-adorned garden at a public-use facility
  • most beautifully flower-adorned family allotment garden in Bolesławiec.

The competition includes flower-adorned windows, balconies and gardens submitted by residents, as well as places selected by the competition committee as worthy of notice and awards.

In the Councillors’ Hall, Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman presented the winners with certificates, distinctions and prizes, thanking all participants for the beautiful plant arrangements in Bolesławiec. TMB President Zygmunt Brusiło recalled the origins of the competition and also highlighted the special role of flowers and greenery in human life.

The winners in the individual categories of the “Bolesławiec in Flowers 2019” competition were:

Most beautifully flower-adorned window

  1. Non-Public Healthcare Facility “PROVITA” on Grunwaldzka Street
  2. Parish House, Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 1 Zamkowy Square
  3. Julianna Gdeczyk.

Most beautifully flower-adorned balcony

  1. Wanda Kaliwoda
  2. Jan Marchwiński
  3. Izabela Król.

Distinctions: Katarzyna Szaja, Paulina Burdukiewicz, Marianna Ostrowska, Weronika Kumosz.

Most beautifully flower-adorned garden in a multi-family residential development (the garden must be accessible to all residents of the property)

  1. Helena Bortkiewicz
  2. Krystyna Kubicka
  3. Stefania Bąk.

Distinctions: Jan Jajko, Albina Szymczewska, Rozalia Staniewska, Antonina Rybek and Ryszard Kowalczuk (joint entry).

Most beautifully flower-adorned garden at a public-use facility

  1. “Kurna Chata” bar
  2. “Pod Złotym Aniołem” restaurant
  3. “NOWA” Confectionery and “STOMED” clinic.

Most beautifully flower-adorned Family Allotment Garden – based on the report of the Polish Allotment Garden Association’s College of Presidents in Bolesławiec

This year, three first places were awarded, divided according to garden size:

  1. for gardens with up to 100 plots – ROD “Alstromeria”
  2. for gardens with 101–300 plots – ROD “Tulipan”
  3. for gardens with more than 300 plots – ROD “Wiarus”.

Distinctions: ROD “Cegiełka”, ROD “Pod dębami”, ROD “Kolejarz”, ROD “Malwa”, ROD “Stokrotka”, ROD “Relaks”.

The prizes in the competition are vouchers for the PSB “Mrówka” store in Bolesławiec, worth a total of PLN 10,000, funded from the Bolesławiec municipal budget for 2019, redeemable until May 30, 2020.
