The 19-year-old who stole handbags in churches in Jelenia Góra has been detained. The suspect followed the principle that “opportunity makes the thief.” She took advantage of the victims’ momentary inattention and robbed them while they were praying.

Officers established that between April and May, the detainee committed at least three such thefts. Property worth approximately PLN 7,000 was stolen. (This included, among other things, money, documents, mobile phones and payment cards).

Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra:

Based on the information collected in the case and an analysis of surveillance camera footage, officers identified and detained the woman suspected of these acts.

Police are now clarifying all the circumstances of the case in detail, especially what the detainee did with the stolen property.

The 19-year-old now faces up to five years in prison.
