Krystyna Anna Burakowska has been cooperating with the obstetrics ward in Bolesławiec for two years. Together with volunteers from across the country, she sews baby wraps, caps, bibs and baby nests for newborns from our county. On September 25, the volunteer visited the hospital in Bolesławiec to give beautiful gifts to the children being treated there. Thanks to the charity campaign called “We Sew for Children from Hospital Wards,” volunteers sew for sick children: cushions, stuffed toys, caps, shoe bags, hairbands, cuddly toys, pencil cases and pillowcases. The creativity of the women and men knows no bounds. Everything is sewn from high-quality materials, and the items are filled with hypoallergenic silicone balls. The Facebook group with the same name has nearly 3,000 members from across the country.
“We give these small and large wonders free of charge to children from the pediatric ward of the hospital in Bolesławiec,” says the campaign’s originator Krystyna Anna Burakowska. “A hospital stay involves considerable stress and pain for a child, so in this way we want to distract the children from the procedures awaiting them and improve their mood. As we know, a patient’s psychological condition has a tremendous impact on the success of treatment. We have already given gifts to several dozen children during three months of cooperation with the pediatric ward. We encourage women from Bolesławiec and the surrounding area to get actively involved in our campaign. There are surely women who can sew and can support our campaign,” the volunteer adds.

She completed secondary school in Bolesławiec: the Preschool Education College in Dolne Młyny.
