From September 9 to 13, large-scale exercises involving specialist units of the State Fire Service from Lower Silesian Voivodeship, as well as units cooperating with the Polish Armed Forces, Volunteer Fire Service, GOPR, WOPR, JRGH from KGHM Polska Miedź and emergency services from the Czech Republic, were held in our county. The exercises were organized by the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Wrocław, with the participation of the Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service.
Firefighters from Bolesławiec:
The teams practiced and improved elements of rescue-operation tactics at the Pstrąże training grounds, the Krępnica water reservoir and the fire service headquarters yard in Bolesławiec.
Each day, the exercises involved a total of 30 to 40 vehicles and approximately 130 firefighters and other rescuers.
Specialist groups of Lower Silesian firefighters from Bolesławiec, Chojnów, Jelenia Góra, Legnica, Lubań, Lubin, Świdnica, Wałbrzych, Wrocław and Zgorzelec practiced, among other things, tasks involving:
- organizing rescue missions in accordance with INSARAG standards
- locating people trapped under rubble and carrying out demolition work
- stabilizing excavations and damaged building structures
- evacuating casualties from confined spaces and heights
- water rescue, including on fast-flowing waters, and search operations following drownings
- decontaminating casualties and people contaminated by chemical warfare agents
- tactics for extinguishing fires involving cryogenic liquids such as LNG (liquefied natural gas).
Uniformed officers:
Conducting simulated rescue operations required the firefighters to have extensive knowledge and skills. In addition to standard rescue and firefighting vehicles, they used, among other equipment, vehicles with HDS cranes, hydraulic and pneumatic technical rescue equipment, impact hammers, circular saws and chainsaws, boats, diving equipment, sonar, mountaineering equipment, multi-gas detectors and drones.
The exercises were observed, among others, by the deputy Lower Silesian Voivodeship commander of the State Fire Service in Wrocław, Senior Brigadier Marek Kamiński.
