Legnica police officers detained two residents of Lubin, aged 43 and 61, who set off on a journey along the S3 motorway on Monday evening while completely drunk.

The men's car most likely broke down near the village of Kochlice. One of them then got out of the vehicle and... fell onto the road. Passing drivers thought a collision had occurred and called the emergency number.

Officers from the Legnica traffic police immediately went to the scene, where they found two completely drunk men. At that time, neither of them admitted to driving the vehicle.

It turned out that the 43-year-old had 1.9 parts per mille of alcohol in his breath, while the 61-year-old had as much as 2.7 parts per mille. The car was removed from the road, and both suspects were taken into police custody.

After sobering up, the younger man admitted to driving the car while drunk. He could now face up to two years in prison.
