Zgorzelec criminal investigators, together with police officers from Wrocław, have solved a case from 20 years ago. In December 1999, the family reported a 46-year-old man missing. Police launched a search operation, checking every lead that could point them to the place where the missing man might have been. For a long time, however, it was impossible to determine what had happened to him. Until now.
New information, a reanalysis of the materials collected at the time, further operational work, and other activities made it possible to establish that the man had been... murdered.
The evidence gathered by the police and the prosecutor’s office provided grounds for the arrest of the 54-year-old woman, the ex-wife of the murdered 46-year-old man. Jelenia Góra District Prosecutor’s Office:
The crime took place in December 1999, when, during a domestic dispute, the woman struck her husband with a knife, causing his death. The man’s body was then hidden, and his disappearance was reported to the Police.
The woman was charged with murder. Furthermore, at the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered that the suspect be held in pre-trial detention for three months.
The 54-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County could now face life imprisonment.
