All the delicacies were prepared by the women—and the men as well—from the rural housewives’ associations. As wójt Dariusz Pawliszczy said, for the coming year to be happy and prosperous for farmers, and for there always to be bread and something to go with it on the tables, the harvest wreath should be danced around. The blessed bread was divided, and every guest had to try it. Sharing bread is one of the most beautiful harvest festival customs.
Bolesławiec County Starosta Tomasz Gabrysiak, who was Gromadka’s wójt for four years starting in 1998, recalled how much the gmina had changed, how it continued to grow more beautiful and develop economically, and how actively it cooperated with the county’s local governments, including by investing in roads and supporting the hospital in Bolesławiec.
The Starosta thanked the residents for their exceptional hospitality. He spoke about Gromadka’s multicultural and multireligious character, which does not divide people or cause conflicts between neighbors, but beautifully brings them together.
