The incident occurred on September 3, at approximately 4:00 p.m., in the Rudna municipality. Officers from the local police station received a report that the driver of an agricultural tractor had damaged a fence at one of the properties and that the man was probably intoxicated.
The driver turned out to be a 62-year-old resident of the Rudna municipality. He was transporting wood, but it had been improperly secured on the trailer and began falling onto the roadway. However, the driver was so drunk that he did not even notice. (One of the falling trees damaged the fence of the aforementioned property).
The 62-year-old tractor driver had a blood alcohol level of 1.8 per mille. He told the police that he had drunk one beer the day before.
But that was not the end of it. It emerged that the 62-year-old was a wanted person; he had a three-month prison sentence to serve. What is more, the vehicle driven by the drunk driver did not have the mandatory insurance.
The man was taken to a police cell. He lost his driving licence. He now additionally faces up to two years in prison and a penalty charge for lack of insurance.
