It appears that consequences will be imposed on the drivers who behaved scandalously on the A4 at the end of August. “We identified 55 vehicles by their registration plates, make and model. We identified 20 car owners who have already been punished. Since the cars are registered throughout Poland, we have requested legal assistance from other units,” Dariusz Rajski of the Wrocław police told interia.pl.
(The video can no longer be watched on YouTube, but it is still available on Facebook.)
The officer assures us:
Some will be held responsible for creating a risk of an accident, others for making a U-turn. The case is at an advanced stage. The counting is still ongoing. Everyone who blocked the emergency corridor will have to reckon with the fact that sooner or later we will reach them.

Let us recall that the incident occurred on the A4 on August 26. The video and description of the entire situation were published on their Facebook profile by the organizers of the Emergency Corridor – Think Before You Act campaign, whose co-initiators are members of OSP KSRG Czerna (the municipality of Nowogrodziec):
Kilometer 143 of the A4 motorway. A collision between two trucks. A fire service vehicle is driving to the scene. We thought we had seen everything already… but nothing could be further from the truth. What is happening here is beyond belief. For the first time, we are lost for words to describe the situation. Scandalous, to put it mildly. Stupidity would be better. Irresponsibility and extreme idiocy – that is almost right, although it still does not fully convey what can be seen in the footage.
[...] What is appalling is that at one point we get the impression that the fire service vehicle is driving on a two-way road. Unfortunately, this is a two-lane section of motorway… And those sheep on the left are idiots who were making U-turns through the emergency corridor on their own.
They added:
The fact is that after all forces and resources reached the scene and operations involving securing the area and transporting the injured had ended, the police, in coordination with the fire service, themselves coordinated clearing the motorway, using the emergency corridor. Such action is perfectly appropriate. But, by Merlin’s beard!!!!! LET US NEVER DO THIS ON OUR OWN.
The matter was later publicized – and quite rightly so! – by national media outlets. What do you think? Join the discussion.
