On Sunday, 28 June, Bolesławiec will welcome lady Marika, an artist creating music at the intersection of reggae, funk and soul. She began her career in 2002 with the Bass Medium Trinity soundsystem, which released the very well-received album “Mówisz i masz” in 2004.
She has played more than 200 concerts in clubs throughout Poland. Her stage appearances include the Forest Opera in Sopot (TOPtrendy 2006) and the main stage of the Coke Live Music Festival (2008). She has supported such stars as: Macy Gray, Gentleman, Panjabi Hit Squad, Sean Paul and Missy Elliott.
In 2006, she took part in the “Polski ogień” project. The album resulting from the Polish-German collaboration featured two of her songs: “Siła ognia” and “What's Your Flava?”.
In summer 2007, the first single heralding the release of Marika’s full-length album came out. The song “Moje serce” – the result of a collaboration with the production duo JuniorBwoy – became a genuine hit.
On 22 August 2008, the artist’s solo album “Plenty”, released by Pomaton EMI, hit store shelves. The album is a hot fusion of various urban music genres, from nu jazz and neo-soul to reggae, drum'n'bass and funk. The record was well received by both audiences and critics.
The concert will begin at 20:00 in the square in front of Piwnica Paryska. Tickets cost PLN 15 (in advance) and PLN 25 (on the day of the concert). They can be purchased either at Piwnica Paryska or from the organizers (telephone number: 793 747 778).
An afterparty will take place at Piwnica Paryska after the concert. For the people of Bolesławiec, Method Massiv, the town’s most active soundsystem, will perform. The group consists of vocalists Himalion, MichaJah and LadyBird, as well as Bolesławiec DJs: Jegomość and Fasol from Full Spontan Promotions, to whom we owe the renaissance of reggae/dancehall events in our town.
The concert is organized with the active cooperation and assistance of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre.
