Workers have stabilised the ground on which the foundation will be laid. The kerbs of the pavements are currently being installed, and curbs are being set.
“The old asphalt will be used, among other things, to reinforce unpaved roads. For many years, this is how we have used materials recovered during road renovations,” says Andrzej Szymkowiak, director of the Municipal Roads Authority.
Let us recall that the first tender for the reconstruction of Leszczyńska Street was cancelled because of excessively high prices proposed by the companies. In the second tender, announced in May, three companies submitted offers. The lowest offer exceeded the amount planned in the budget by more than one million zlotys. After receiving a government grant and including it in the city budget, it was possible to select a contractor. The investment cost is approximately PLN 7.167 million.
This is another stage in the reconstruction of this important thoroughfare for the city. This year, the section from the intersection with Głogowska Street (near the railway viaduct) to Ścinawska Street was reconstructed.
At the end of last year, Leszczyńska Street was also reconstructed from the intersection with Ścinawska Street to the bridge over the Czarna Woda River. The investment included: renovation of the roadway and pavements, construction of a cycle path, reconstruction of traffic-lane divider islands, replacement of drainage connections and inlets, and preparation of utility infrastructure for the future installation of traffic lights at the intersection of Leszczyńska and Prusa streets. The cost was approximately PLN 3.5 million.
Earlier, a petrol station was built on Leszczyńska Street. In connection with this investment, numerous works were carried out near the station at the investor’s expense. A section of Łokietka Street was reconstructed. A bus bay was built on Leszczyńska Street, and pavements and cycle paths were renovated. Traffic lights were installed at its intersection with Łokietka and Ścinawska streets.
