On 15 August, a military picnic was held in Jawor to celebrate Polish Army Day, the 99th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw and the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First Silesian Uprising. The event was organized by the commander of the Bolesławiec Garrison and the mayor of Jawor.

Participants at the picnic could enjoy many attractions prepared by soldiers and the Promotion Department of the Jawor City Hall. The 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment:

Those who came to the “Jawornik” Recreation Centre on Thursday afternoon were very pleased. They could see up close a Rosomak armored personnel carrier from the 17th Wielkopolska Mechanized Brigade in Międzyrzecz, as well as the WR-40 Langusta and Liwiec RZRA from the 23rd Artillery Regiment. Equipment and vehicles from the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów and the 22nd Mountain Infantry Battalion from Kłodzko were also on display.

In addition to the equipment, which drew the longest queues, army pea soup and bread from a military bakery were also very popular. (Everything was prepared by soldiers of the 31st Regional Logistics Base from Wrocław with the assistance of the 2nd Regional Logistics Base).

Musicians from the military orchestra in Żagań and the vocal group Głogowska Czwórka from the 4th Engineer Battalion club in Głogów provided entertainment for the picnic participants.

There were also activities for children, presentations by historical reenactment groups and many other attractions. Interest in the picnic was enormous, and attendance significantly exceeded the organizers’ expectations.
