The launch of the new connection is the result of talks between representatives of the local authorities of Lower Silesia and the Pardubice Region. The details of the agreement were established during a meeting between Tymoteusz Myrda, Member of the Board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, and Michal Kortyš, Deputy Governor of the Pardubice Region, which was also attended by representatives of the carriers responsible for passenger services.

– I hope this decision will increase tourist traffic—not only of Lower Silesian residents in Prague, but also of visitors from the Czech Republic to Lower Silesia – said Tymoteusz Myrda.

The direct Wrocław–Prague rail connection will be included in the new 2019/2020 timetable from December. Passengers will be able to use two train pairs operating every weekend, one pair each day. On the remaining days, passengers will be able to use the connections that have operated until now, with a change in Lichkov and Ústí nad Orlicí.

– I am glad that we managed to reach an agreement with the Czechs, because both we and our foreign partners have wanted such a connection for a long time. Thanks to this, we will be able to plan a trip to Prague and back even within a single day, although personally I believe that is far too short – added Damian Stawikowski, president of Koleje Dolnośląskie.

The new connection will shorten travel time to Prague. The current journey with changes takes more than five hours. The direct train will cover the route in a little over four hours.
