This is a very useful tool which, once installed on a mobile phone, reminds users of waste collection dates, informs them about changes to the collection schedule, and provides a quick answer whenever there is doubt about which container a particular type of waste belongs in. It can also be used to report irregularities concerning the waste collection schedule or overflowing waste containers.
How does the app work?
- Schedule: In the EcoHarmonogram mobile app, residents search for their municipal waste collection schedule using their address. This way, they receive only the schedule assigned to the given property. Users also receive automatic notifications about upcoming municipal waste collection dates. Importantly, users can configure when they wish to receive notifications. It is also possible to set the reminder time (by default, this is 6:00 p.m.). In addition, every app user has access to a special view showing all waste fractions together with the next collection date for each fraction. Residents can also view all waste collection dates broken down by month. The app also reminds users about payment deadlines
- Report a problem: People who install the app can submit reports about irregularities. To do so, they need to provide the report type and describe the problem. Residents can also add a GPS location, attach a photo and provide contact details.
- Calendar synchronization: Using the EcoHarmonogram plug-in, residents can download a waste collection calendar in ICS format. This format is a calendar standard supported by most companies providing calendar applications, including Google, Apple and Microsoft. When downloading the calendar, the user provides an email address and can therefore automatically receive all updates to waste collection dates by email as soon as they are published by the city. In addition, the Android app allows automatic synchronization with Google Calendar
- Information about PSZOK: From the app, every resident has quick access to information about Selective Municipal Waste Collection Points, including their address (with an attached Google Maps), opening hours, what can be dropped off and what cannot be dropped off
- Eco-education – how to sort waste: The mobile app provides information about the fractions into which municipal waste should be sorted. Residents also have access to a waste search engine. After entering a type of waste, such as a mirror, battery or tyres, residents receive detailed information about which container or bag the item should be placed in, or where else it can be handed in (for example, expired medicines can be taken to pharmacies). The mobile app also contains information about collection points for expired medicines
- Air quality: The app can also be used to view air quality data in the Bolesławiec area.
The mobile app is available free of charge for the Android, iOS and Windows Phone operating systems. The app can be installed from Google Play, Windows Store and the App Store.
