The incident occurred on Sunday, 28 July, in the afternoon, on a bridge in the Rudna municipality. The duty officer at the Lubin police headquarters received a report about a citizen’s arrest of an intoxicated driver who was travelling by moped. Importantly, the arrest was made by a resident of Bolesławiec County.
A patrol from the Lubin traffic police went to the Rudna municipality. In the meantime, the suspected man broke free from the person who had reported him and fled, abandoning the vehicle.
When the police officers arrived at the scene, the witness gave them a description of the moped rider and indicated the direction in which he had fled.
The officers identified and arrested a 53-year-old resident of Góra County, who had already managed to reach his property. It turned out that the two-wheeler’s rider was completely drunk; he had more than 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. The man was immediately taken to the Lubin police headquarters.
The 53-year-old admitted that he had been drinking alcohol. He explained his behaviour by citing personal problems. The man apprehended by our local resident now faces up to two years in prison.
