FIEGE’s youngest facility, the Distribution Centre in Osła in the Krzywa subzone of the LSSE, has already hired its first employees, who are currently undergoing training at the client’s warehouse in the Netherlands. The trained employees will serve as mentors for the next people hired.
The first employees emphasised that direct employment by the employer, without an employment agency, is important to them. Importantly, the recruitment process is personally supervised by Hubert Sadowski — Distribution Centre Manager. The personal involvement of the facility manager in selecting employees makes it possible to build honest, open communication from the outset and, over time, lasting and friendly relationships within the team.
Another significant aspect is the five-day working week, with Sundays off, which makes it possible to maintain a healthy balance between professional and private life.
Recruitment — who are they looking for?
At this stage of building the team, the recruitment team in Osła is looking for people with varying levels of education, experience and industry knowledge.
“Ultimately, our warehouse is to be operated by 200 people, so we certainly will not lose the character of a small, family-run company where everyone knows one another and enjoys working together,” says Liza Julia Gargulińska, Recruitment Specialist in Osła. Our goal is to create good working conditions for all of us. Our newly hired employees will certainly take care of a great and friendly atmosphere.
At the current stage of recruitment, the company is looking for people with UDT qualifications to work as forklift operators, as well as warehouse workers with certificates confirming completion of forklift operator courses. The most important information for potential candidates is a clear scope of responsibilities for each position and a standardised process. An interesting fact is that warehouse employees will perform their duties with the support of modern technical solutions. For example, employees preparing orders for collection will not use scanners but will use so-called voice-picking technology — voice confirmation of picking. Forklifts moving around the warehouse will have radio-control capability.
A large group of employees will also be candidates with a good command of English (minimum level B1) for office work and customer contact, hired as logistics specialists. In this recruitment process, FIEGE is also offering opportunities to people with minimal experience or those beginning their professional careers, provided they are willing to develop and learn.
Recruitment is still under way for Leader positions. Their main responsibilities include operational work, managing the work of their team, monitoring and supervising work progress, and ensuring the high quality and efficiency of warehouse services. Crucially for the company, ensuring the correct application of warehouse procedures, including occupational health and safety rules, is also part of a Leader’s duties.
There can be no crew without a good helmsman, which is why the company is actively looking for Shift Managers with English. Their responsibilities include ensuring the continuity of operations in the warehouse area under their supervision, managing the work of their team and, importantly for all employees, proposing solutions to improve warehouse processes and ensuring the development of subordinate employees.
There is no need to fear heavy, monotonous work. The product range changes seasonally and is highly diverse. Parcels usually weigh no more than 5 kg. This is also not piecework. Every new employee is covered by a special induction programme lasting from two to four weeks.
Benefits and salaries
FIEGE employees will be able to take free English lessons. Improving language skills, while developing other professional abilities, will allow everyone at the company to apply for higher positions and ultimately achieve internal promotion.
The company offers employment under an employment contract, as well as attainable bonuses במסגרת its bonus system. Good news for potential candidates is that pay increases with length of service. Other benefits include free medical care, a subsidy for a Multisport card and the previously mentioned English lessons. For Christmas, vouchers for employees and gift packages for children are prepared, with contents suited to the children’s ages. Once a year, integration meetings are organised, during which employees can talk not only about work in a pleasant atmosphere, but also dance or take part in sports activities.
It is worth mentioning that in 2018 FIEGE was once again recognised as a “Reliable Employer of the Year”. The company was also included among the fastest-growing companies in Poland (the “Business Gazelles” title).
*FIEGE’s headquarters are located in Osła, on the site of the former airport in Krzywa, within the Legnica Special Economic Zone. The logistics centre is situated 16 km from Bolesławiec and approximately 1 km from the A4 motorway.
