On Wednesday, November 6, another company officially opened with great fanfare in the industrial zone in Krzywa (Osła, Gromadka commune). Action is a Dutch chain of non-food discount stores that is developing very dynamically. International logistics operator Fiege is responsible for managing Action’s first distribution center in Poland, located in Osła. The two companies have been cooperating since 2017, when Fiege began managing a similar facility owned by Action in Biblis, Germany, near Frankfurt.
During the opening, a press conference, a tour of the company and an official event marking the beginning of the company’s development in Poland were organized.
The distribution center in Osła is a complex with a total area of 45,000 m2 and the latest investment by an international company in Gromadka commune. With space for more than 50,000 pallets, the center will be able to accommodate Action’s entire product range. Ultimately, it will provide approximately 400 jobs. Environmental protection is also an important issue. Action and the international construction company Goldbeck carried out the investment with particular consideration for its impact on the natural environment.
– Goldbeck has experience in sustainable construction. Together with Action, we created a complex that ensures efficiency while also being environmentally friendly thanks to suitable building materials, construction details and installed equipment – says Paul Zimmermann, managing director of Goldbeck. – Examples of the solutions used include solar panels supporting the water-heating system in the office building, smart meters for energy and water consumption, water-saving installations and LED lighting.
At the press conference, representatives of both companies, Action and Fiege, spoke about their experiences with the Polish market and consumers. They appreciated the openness of Poles and good cooperation with local governments, and were counting on Polish thriftiness. According to their owners, Action stores offer very attractive product prices. Polish customers choose Action stores because of the quality of the range and good prices.
– The opening of the distribution center in Osła is a milestone in Action’s development in Poland – explained Sławomir Nitek, general manager of Action Polska. – Over the past two years, we have opened almost 50 stores and intend to have many more. The distribution center is an investment in our presence on the Polish market. Thanks to our business partners and the authorities of Gromadka commune, we have a stable foundation for further operations. Osła is a strategic location for our development, providing suitable infrastructure and convenient connections to nearby motorways – Sławomir Nitek added.
