Last week, a Reader called us after noticing MZGK workers near Tysiąclecia Avenue walking around with blowers and “raising dust to the height of a person’s face.”
According to the person who reported the matter, vacuum cleaners should rather be used for sweeping.
We asked the company for comment on the matter. Izabela Członka, manager of the Cleaning and Transport Department at the Municipal Communal Services Company in Bolesławiec:
We would like to inform you that during the period mentioned, the Company removed weeds from the edges of pavements at the request of MZGM in Bolesławiec. The service deadline does not take weather differences into account, and the service must be completed on time (during a prolonged drought). The following equipment was used to perform the service and leave the work area aesthetically pleasing: a manual string trimmer and a blower. The nature of the work makes it impossible to use other equipment, such as a vehicle or a pavement sweeper (understood by the person who intervened as a vacuum cleaner).
She added: “In similar cases, we will pay particular attention to the performance of commissioned work and ask pavement users to do likewise.”
