During the ceremony, Deputy Mayor Kornel Filipowicz presented the “Bolesławiec Mayor’s Awards” to exceptionally talented graduates of primary schools and lower-secondary school divisions.
The awards have a financial value and replace scholarships. The award amounts to PLN 1,000. The award recipients were selected by a committee composed of school representatives.
The basic criteria for selecting graduates of primary schools and lower-secondary school divisions residing in the city of Bolesławiec for the “Bolesławiec Mayor’s Award” for special achievements in the 2018/2019 school year were:
- an average grade of 5.1 or higher
- excellent or very good conduct results of the eighth-grade examination in Polish, mathematics and a foreign language ranging from 75% to 100%. (In the eighth-grade examination, the student must score between 75% and 100% in at least two sections)
- results of the lower-secondary school examination in the humanities, mathematics and natural sciences, and foreign-language sections ranging from 75% to 100%. (In the lower-secondary school examination, the student must score between 75% and 100% in at least two sections).
The selected graduates had to have individual achievements (not team achievements) in competitions, contests and olympiads at least at the county level:
- first place in county and regional competitions (finalists)
- finalists in voivodeship, national and international competitions, olympiads and contests (first, second or third place).
Outstanding achievements that merit recognition and result from core activities carried out as part of fulfilling compulsory education are also awarded points. Graduates’ achievements apply exclusively to students whose schools entered them in competitions.
