The event was organized by a team of teachers responsible for educating students in values and shaping their patriotic attitudes: Melania Balińska, Małgorzata Maksymów, Agnieszka Orawiec, Adrian Banyś. Assistance was also provided by: Renata Ćwik-Borowska, Elżbieta Szczegodzińska, Gizela Grabowska, Marta Łagowska and Anetta Kramarska.
The school principal, Dorota Basiak, welcomed the guests: Kornel Filipowicz, Deputy Mayor of Bolesławiec; Beata Sulska, Head of the Social Affairs Department; and Joanna Sawicka, commander of the Szare Szeregi Polish Scouting and Guiding Association troop in Bolesławiec.
The main aim of “Family Singing” was to popularize a variety of songs containing patriotic themes. This exceptional event also brought together students from Bolesławiec schools. Scouts from the local Szare Szeregi troop also took part in the communal singing.
The singing of patriotic songs around the campfire was preceded by a walk through Bolesławiec, in which students from Bolesławiec primary schools took part. Under the guidance of the outstanding regional expert and scoutmaster Zdzisław Abramowicz, the students learned about our city from a historical perspective. The students of Primary School No. 3 recreated the atmosphere of cultivating patriotism by inviting everyone present to participate in this special concert. Everyone could follow the song lyrics, as commemorative songbooks had been prepared for convenience. The choir, accompanied by an orchestra consisting of guitars, ukuleles, violins, an accordion and even a saxophone, sang such songs as “Rota”, “O My Rosemary”, “White Roses”, “The Riflemen Are Marching”, “We, the First Brigade” and “My Homeland”. The guests were happy to join in.
The songs performed provided a beautiful lesson in Polish history and moved everyone present. Free time was devoted to recreational and sports competitions, as well as talks and activities with the scout troop. To uphold the scouting and partisan tradition, the several-hour ceremony concluded with a campfire and refreshments.
Emotion, joy and a family atmosphere aptly described the mood in which the ceremony took place.
The community of Primary School No. 3 extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in this exceptional event, and especially to the sponsors—the school’s friends who provided material and financial support.
