On Thursday, 16 May, an extraordinary session of the Bolesławiec County Council was held. The main item on the agenda was a vote on the draft resolution concerning the “appointment of a Selection Committee to conduct a competition for the position of Director of the Healthcare Complex in Bolesławiec.”
Let us recall. In April, we reported that the long-serving director of the county hospital, Adam Zdaniuk, had resigned from the position. Recently, we also reported that the former head of the Bolesławiec Healthcare Complex had become president of the Lwówek hospital.
Who will choose the new director?
According to the draft resolution, the following people were to sit on the selection committee:
- Waldemar Krysztofiak
- Katarzyna Kujawińska
- Arkadiusz Żądło
- Sylwia Chruszcz
- Dr Andrzej Żuk
- Roman Jaworski.
However, during Thursday’s session, Karol Stasik, head of the Platforma Samorządowa councillors’ group, Karol Stasik submitted a motion to expand the committee by adding an opposition representative—the unaffiliated councillor Tomasz Matyjewicz.
The county executive, Tomasz Gabrysiak, then spoke. He emphasised that his intention had been for the committee selecting the new Healthcare Complex director to be substantive rather than political. (As the head of the County Board added, the only political member of the body in question is W. Krysztofiak, a Law and Justice councillor).
But he immediately added that T. Matyjewicz’s candidacy was a substantive one and that he supported adding the opposition councillor to the committee.
The Bolesławiec County Council unanimously adopted the self-amendment concerning the expansion of the selection committee. In the same way—that is, with every councillor voting in favour—the councillors adopted the resolution on the “appointment of a Selection Committee to conduct a competition for the position of Director of the Healthcare Complex in Bolesławiec.”
What do you think? We invite you to join the discussion. We will certainly return to the subject.
