We were asked to publicize the matter by our Reader. Unofficial information that PKP Intercity authorities were planning changes to the service of the “Ślązak” express train appeared on the Infokolej.pl forum. “The train is supposedly to be discontinued only on the Zgorzelec–Wrocław section. The reason? PKP is having problems staffing the crew,” the Reader wrote in an email to the editorial office.

The forum was ablaze. “I propose discontinuing all trains from Wrocław to Zgorzelec [...]. Then it will be possible to have 100% certainty that the line will survive the next 300 years intact,” wrote one forum user. “Only PKP, like no other monopoly in Poland, knows how to drive away its customers instead of attracting them,” another one echoed.

PKP Intercity firmly denies these reports. Beata Czemerajda from PKP IC’s press team wrote: “From June 1, there will be no change to the operation of the Ślązak train; we are not planning to discontinue it.”
