Officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters received a report about a driver travelling on the motorway who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Officers patrolling the A4 quickly determined the vehicle’s location and stopped it. A 52-year-old resident of Opole Voivodeship was behind the wheel.

The driver explained to the police officers that he was on his way to work in... Switzerland. The man planned to drive the 1,300-km route, but was stopped in Bolesławiec County.

The man from Opole was completely drunk. A sobriety test showed 2.7‰ of alcohol in his exhaled air.

The resident of Opole Voivodeship was detained. He faces up to two years in prison, losing his driving licence and financial consequences.

The information about the intoxicated driver came from another person travelling on the motorway, whose reaction may have prevented a tragedy and thanks to whom the drunk driver was removed from road traffic.
