Every year in March, the school organizes intensified prevention activities for students and their parents. They include workshops, performances, presentations, meetings with interesting people and trips. Parents have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of educational methods, addictions, designer drugs and developing social skills.

As part of Prevention Week, outside specialists and institutions supporting the school’s work are invited. Students also prepare prevention performances themselves, developing their interests and talents while actively participating in the educational process.

These activities conclude the school’s year-round educational and prevention work, giving children and young people a clear signal about the attitudes and values accepted and desired in the education of a young person. Parents’ participation in such initiatives is an important element. Thanks to this approach, we can expect the school’s efforts to produce long-term results.

This year, the focus was on workshops about addictions, particularly designer drugs. The aim was to equip parents and students with the knowledge and skills that will help them in difficult situations.

Another topic discussed during meetings with young people was hate speech. Thanks to the courtesy and commitment of Grażyna Hanaf, chair of the board of the boleslawianie.eu association, the students learned how to cope when they are targeted by hate, what emotions an attack motivated by hatred causes, and why people commit such hateful acts. They also discussed where to seek help when a hater threatens or defames someone. Each student attending the presentation received a practical leaflet summarizing the lecture.

The youngest students explored the world of emotions and ways of coping with them. They were helped by the therapeutic fairy tale “Garbuska,” read by its author, Grażyna Hanaf. The classes took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We hope this will encourage students to reach for the book in difficult moments.

One day of Prevention Week was devoted to promoting health and ecological attitudes.

On March 21, the school community of the Józef Piłsudski Primary School, together with the teachers, welcomed spring. On this special day, the school also celebrated International Earth Day, which falls on April 22. From the first lesson, students had the opportunity to watch the documentary film “SOS Earth.” Then, taking on the role of the Earth and under the supervision of their teachers, they wrote letters in the form of an “Earth’s Appeal for Help.” The most interesting letters were displayed in the school hall, and their authors were rewarded. The “Smog and Smoke Are Bad” competition was also decided that day. The competition was organized by the Primary School in Nowa Wieś in cooperation with the Hydro-Tech water utility in Nowogrodziec, which funded attractive prizes for all participants. During the next lesson, an assembly was held at the school, where the entire school community watched an ecological performance by Class IVa students under the supervision of Sylwia Puzio. The performance aimed to raise awareness of the importance of nature to human life and to develop ecological awareness understood as a willingness to act in harmony with the environment. To conclude the “First Day of Spring,” the students made “Gifts from Nothing,” which were displayed in the school hall.

Meetings with representatives of the Police were planned at the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec to discuss safety, dangers and... the work of a police officer.

The workshops launched during Prevention Week continue at the school. Discussions are held about tolerance, aggression and discrimination. Emotions and thoughts are being explored, and self-esteem is being built because... nobody is ordinary.

The activities held as part of Prevention Week were financed by the Municipal Office in Nowogrodziec.

We thank our guests, students and parents for this wonderful time.
