The incident occurred during the night of March 25–26. As firefighters from OSP KSRG Nowogrodziec wrote this morning:
Operations are under way at a fire in the brickworks building in Nowogrodziec. This is another fire at the facility in recent times.
The police are investigating the case.
We have written about this subject many times in our pages. Let us recap. In winter, we reported that another fire broke out on Wednesday, December 12 last year, at around 7:00 a.m. We also reported that the former brickworks in Nowogrodziec had probably been set on fire again. Approximately 100 square meters of wooden ceiling burned. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Six fire service units took part in the operation: three from the Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service, and one each from OSP Nowogrodziec, OSP Nowogrodziec II and OSP Zebrzydowa.
The previous fire at the same location occurred during the night of December 6–7. (The photographs come from the Facebook profile of Ochotniczej Straży Pożarnej w Nowogrodźcu.)
The fire broke out at around 3:00 a.m. The entire building was engulfed in flames, which is why arson was probably involved.
As many as 20 fire service units took part in extinguishing the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Moreover, the website of the Komenda Powiatowa Państwowej Straży Pożarnej w Bolesławcu states:
On November 16, 2018, firefighters from JRG Bolesławiec and OSP Nowogrodziec carried out rescue and firefighting operations at the storage facility of the former brickworks located on Fabryczna Street in Nowogrodziec.
The fire was noticed several minutes before 9:00 a.m. A wooden ceiling on the building’s first floor was burning. Smoke inside the building posed a particular difficulty and threat; the firefighters operated while equipped with breathing apparatus.
Water streams were directed at the burning ceiling. The storage rooms were cleared of smoke and ventilated. During the operation, all rooms were searched to rule out the presence of people at risk.
The firefighters carried out partial demolition in areas where the ceiling had been damaged by the fire. The operation lasted two hours.
