The endoscopy unit at the Bolesławiec county hospital has received exceptional equipment—a world-class endosonograph. Importantly, only a small number of medical facilities in Poland have such a device.
As Dr. Paweł Remiszewski, a physician in the endoscopy unit, emphasizes, ZOZ is very proud to have acquired the new endosonograph. The device is so sensitive that it can identify potentially cancerous lesions that had previously not been visible, for example, on computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging. (It will enable cancer to be detected early.)
The hospital obtained PLN 2.6 million in EU funding. The money will be used to purchase equipment for the oncology subunit and the endoscopy unit, as well as for minor renovation work.
ZOZ:
Endoscopic ultrasonography is a modern diagnostic procedure used to image the walls of the gastrointestinal tract and the organs adjacent to it. Indications for the examination particularly include diseases of the pancreas or bile ducts, as well as inconclusive results from other abdominal examinations.
Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures can also be performed during the examination, such as drainage of pancreatic cysts or biopsy of pancreatic lesions.
The modern device makes it possible to perform non-invasive procedures that had previously been carried out surgically.
