Officers from the Police Station in Warta Bolesławiecka caught two men red-handed during a night patrol of the A4 motorway.
While driving along the motorway, the officers noticed a visibly damaged vehicle on the grass verge. When they approached, it turned out that someone was inside. The people in the car lay down on the seats, hoping that the patrol would not notice them.
It emerged that the car had been involved in a road incident and its owner had temporarily left it off the roadway. The two detained men wanted to take advantage of the opportunity and rob the vehicle under cover of night. (The perpetrators were equipped with various tools, which they intended to use to steal, among other things, aluminium wheels.)
The detainees are residents of Bolesławiec County, aged 38 and 29. The perpetrators have already been charged. They could face up to 10 years behind bars.
