Officers from the Police Station in Szklarska Poręba identified and then arrested a 22-year-old resident of the town. The man is suspected of misappropriating money.
According to the officers’ findings, a German tourist staying in Szklarska Poręba tried to withdraw PLN 4,000 from an ATM on February 24. Because the transaction was taking a long time to process, he assumed it had been cancelled and walked away from the ATM without noticing that the cash had been dispensed. The 22-year-old standing behind him took advantage of the situation and misappropriated the money.
The victim realized that he had lost PLN 4,000 only two days later, when he tried to withdraw money again. He notified the police.
Based on surveillance footage and the information they obtained, the officers identified the 22-year-old as the suspect.
The man admitted his guilt. Police recovered some of the money.
The 22-year-old could face up to five years in prison.
