On Monday, March 11, in Bolesławiec County, police officers and Border Guard officers conducted intensified checks. They checked drivers’ sobriety and whether foreign nationals were staying in Poland legally.

In the morning, the officers checked people travelling near the economic zone in Osła, and the patrols then continued their intensified operations throughout the county.
In total, the sobriety of 700 drivers was checked. Four of them were driving under the influence.
After 5 a.m., officers detained a resident of Gromadka commune who was driving to work. The 56-year-old driver was in a state after consuming alcohol—his blood alcohol level was 0.4 per mille.
Around 6 a.m., traffic police officers stopped a 50-year-old resident of Gromadka commune for inspection. He was already drunk; a breath test showed 1.2 per mille.
The 25-year-old, checked after 6 a.m., also had alcohol in his system; the test showed 0.3 per mille.
The highest result was recorded by a 46-year-old resident of Osiecznica commune, who was detained after 1 p.m. in Dobra. The driver had more than 2 per mille of alcohol in his system.
Two of the detained drivers could face up to two years in prison.
