As part of the “Model Senior” provincial prevention program, a district officer from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec familiarized University of the Third Age students with various types of dangers they may encounter in everyday life.

The police officer explained how criminals operate, using methods such as impersonating a grandchild, a police officer or a meter reader. He reminded them to be cautious when dealing with strangers and to apply the principle of limited trust toward unknown people.

During discussions about safety, the police officer showed the women how to carry a handbag safely when it contains a wallet, documents, house keys and other valuable items.

Indicating appropriate behavior and developing good habits are very important measures that can prevent a difficult situation in which a senior becomes a victim of criminal activity.

The aim of the preventive activities conducted by police officers is to reduce the number of crimes involving seniors.

A representative of one of Bolesławiec’s banks also took part in the meeting. She discussed the principles of ensuring the safety of bank customers’ finances, with particular emphasis on seniors’ savings.
