A new boxing season has begun for the boxers of TOP Boks Bolesławiec. The opening of the competition took place in Lubań, with the “First Boxing Step” tournament. The tournament was organised by Bojan BOKS Lubań. The boxing competition was open to athletes who had previously fought between 0 and 5 bouts. The aim of the tournament was to gain initial ring experience and promote boxing among young people.

140 new boxing students from 22 clubs, together with invited guests from Germany—from Bautzen and Zittau—came to Lubań. The athletes competed in the following categories: youths, cadets, juniors and young adults. TOP Boks Bolesławiec was represented by five athletes: Krystian Serewatka, Tomasz Kryś, Karolina Przybylska, Marcin Klimek and Piotr Motyka.

Krystian Serwatka, competing at 72 kg, boxed against Mikołaj Medyński, a representative of the host club, but lost the bout. Tomasz Kryś, at 81 kg, faced Oskar Szczygielski of MEB Energetyka Lubin. Our athlete won in the second round by RSC—the opponent was stopped. Karolina Przybylska had a good bout against a boxer from Włókniarz Łódź. Marcin Klimek, 72 kg, drew after an even bout with Artur Maksymiv of Zandukeli Boxing Team.

Piotr Motyka, 62 kg, a 26-bout fighter and the reigning Lower Silesian champion from 2018, had a sparring bout with Kamil Czajkowski of Lubin, an accomplished 60 kg boxer with 42 bouts. In two weeks, from 1 to 3 March, Lubań will host the 2019 Lower Silesian Boxing Championships, which the Bolesławiec team also plans to attend.
