We have written about bus transport in Bolesławiec Municipality many times in our newspaper. The problem still has not been resolved.

However, as municipal officials emphasize, when the Municipal Transport Company stopped running services to the villages near Bolesławiec, alternative solutions were introduced—services operated by three carriers, including the county PKS. Therefore, in the Municipality’s view, it cannot be said that the aforementioned localities have been excluded from public transport.

This does not change the fact that residents are dissatisfied with the authorities’ actions to date. The reason? According to officials, passengers had become accustomed to the higher standard offered by Bolesławiec’s MZK: new low-floor buses with more space for passengers. (This made it easier, among other things, to do their shopping in Bolesławiec.)

What are the ways out of this impasse?

The municipal authorities are considering two solutions. The first—and the most sensible—is to organize public transport throughout the county, naturally excluding the city of Bolesławiec itself.

The advantages of this solution are that it could have a positive impact on the condition of the PKS company and, consequently, among other things, on its fleet. What is more, other local governments in the county could become partners of Bolesławiec Municipality in this undertaking.

The second solution—the most expensive, but also the most comprehensive—would be to launch transport services independently. An initial concept already exists.

Which of the above options will be implemented is not yet known. It seems, however, that residents of the Municipality will have to wait a while for this problem to be resolved.

What do you think? We will certainly return to this topic.
