The incident occurred on February 6, at around 2:00 p.m. A woman posing as the granddaughter of a 64-year-old resident of Mysłakowice municipality (Jelenia Góra County) called her landline. The fraudster told the senior that her son-in-law had caused an accident in which an injured woman had died.

The fake granddaughter handed the phone to an alleged lawyer, who confirmed his accomplice’s version of events and told the woman that he had already lent her son-in-law PLN 60,000 to settle the matter. (The cash was supposedly needed for bail and compensation).

The result? The victim handed over all the money she had at home to an unknown man who appeared at her house.
