She called usReader about an uncleared sidewalk on Zwycięstwa Street in Bolesławiec. She said that she had called the ZDP several times; the road workers were supposed to have promised to clear it, but they did not.

On Tuesday, the Reader saw an elderly woman with a cane walking along the sidewalk. She tripped and fell. Fortunately, the elderly woman was not injured.

According to the schedule published on the Bolesławiec County website, the ZDP was supposed to clear this sidewalk on Wednesday, but the woman claims that even this was not done.

“The sidewalks were cleared according to the schedule,” istotne.pl reportsTadeusz Prochownik of the District Roads Authority. “On streets where the sidewalks on both sides were covered with snow, we cleared at least one side to make life easier for people. In places where the sidewalk directly adjoins a property, under the Act on Maintaining Cleanliness in Municipalities, the owner of the adjoining property is obliged to clear the sidewalk.

“After Monday, 80 percent of the sidewalks in the city had been cleared—that is an excellent result,” emphasizes T. Prochownik. “Residents must remember that throughout the county we have 300 km of roads, and 28 km in Bolesławiec alone. And I have only eight people.

And he adds: “After all, we cannot neglect other localities in the county, which are just as important.”
