The incident occurred on Sunday, February 3, before 6:00 p.m., in the village of Parzyce (Nowogrodziec municipality).
Fire broke out on the roof of one of the buildings. Five people were inside the house; all of them got outside. Firefighters from JRG Bolesławiec were dispatched to the scene, along with volunteers from Czerna, Wykroty, Nowogrodziec (both units), and Brzeźnik. (A fire engine from Zgorzelec was also dispatched, but was later stood down).
The entire attic burned down. Losses were estimated at over PLN 400,000.
The female owner of the property fainted. An emergency medical team was called and provided her with assistance at the scene.
The firefighting operation lasted more than 10 hours. An electrical system short circuit is suspected. Police are investigating the matter.
