On Sunday, April 26, three firefighters escorted Kuba back to the municipal pond on Bankowa Street. The pond’s venerable resident had once again gone for a walk around our city. Below, we present a photograph sent in by our Reader.
“This was not an isolated case,” he told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal Robert Brzeziński, spokesperson for the Bolesławiec District Headquarters of the State Fire Service. Bolesławiec firefighters have repeatedly freed birds that were frozen to the ice or entangled in nets. This time, they helped Kuba.
“Kubuś went into town most recently two weeks ago,” says Emil Zając, commander of the Bolesławiec Municipal Police. “We escorted him back several times because we want him to be safe and we do not want people to be afraid of him,” he adds. Although, as he assures us, the swan is harmless.
