The incident occurred on Wednesday, 30 January, in the afternoon. The duty officer of the Bolesławiec Municipal Police received a report that thick, black smoke was coming from one of the chimneys of a building on Polna Street.

The officers went to the scene. As it turned out, the smoke was coming from the basement. What is more, it emerged that there was a fire in the chimney cleanout opening.

The fire service was called immediately and extinguished the burning chimney after approximately two hours. The incident commander prohibited the use of the stove and recommended that the chimney flue be inspected. The municipal officers have also set a date for a follow-up inspection at the premises.
