Readers informed us that the traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing on Generał Nila Street in Bolesławiec (formerly: II Armii Wojska Polskiego), near the Galeria Wedding and Banquet Center, have not been working for quite some time.
We asked the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, the administrator of the road in question, for comment. Joanna Borkowska, spokesperson for the Wrocław branch of GDDKiA, explains:
The traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing on Generał Nila Street in Bolesławiec, along DK 94D, do not have a connection to the power supply.
She adds:
The traffic lights are powered by batteries, which are charged in sunny weather and by a wind turbine. If there is no sun or wind for an extended period, the batteries may run down, at which point the traffic lights stop working.

J. Borkowska:
In addition to my previous email, I would like to add that, due to the problems occurring with these traffic lights, on 17 January 2019 we submitted an application for the issuance of connection conditions to connect these traffic lights to the TAURON SA power grid.
Once the connection conditions have been obtained, further action will be taken (commissioning the construction of a new power supply in accordance with the obtained “conditions” and the connection agreement), with the aim of changing the power supply method for the traffic lights in question, which should eliminate the problems experienced so far.
