On 17 January 2019, at the request of the Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office, officers of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters arrested four men suspected of producing significant quantities of psychotropic substances. Searches were also conducted at four properties in Jelenia Góra, Bolesławiec and other localities in Jelenia Góra and Bolesławiec counties.

In a building located in Bolesławiec County, a production line for the synthesis of methamphetamine was discovered and dismantled. A number of chemicals and items of equipment used to produce drugs were found and secured at the site.

During the searches, 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine were found and seized. Approximately 200,000 tablets containing pseudoephedrine, a substance used to produce methamphetamine, were also secured. According to the findings, the tablets had been illegally brought to Poland from the United Kingdom.

Money belonging to the suspects, totalling more than PLN 250,000, and a Porsche vehicle worth approximately PLN 150,000 were seized. The seized property was placed under a security measure by the Prosecutor’s Office.

The arrested men were brought before the Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office. They were charged with jointly and in agreement producing a significant quantity of a psychotropic substance, namely more than 600 grams of methamphetamine, between October 2018 and January 2019. According to the Prosecutor’s Office’s findings, the suspects made the activity a regular source of income. Two of those arrested were additionally charged with possessing narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The suspects did not admit to committing the offences with which they were charged.

At the request of the Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office, the men were remanded in custody for three months from the date of their arrest due to concerns that they might unlawfully obstruct the criminal proceedings and because they faced severe punishment.

The offences they allegedly committed are punishable by imprisonment for between 3 and 20 years.
