The fifth anniversary of Poland’s accession to the structures of the European Union is approaching. To mark the occasion, on 1 May this year, the Bolesławiec District Council of the Democratic Left Alliance is organizing a race under the slogan “Running with Europe”.
The organizers want the event to become a permanent part of our city’s traditions and to promote a healthy lifestyle. The race is open to everyone. To take part, participants simply need to register at the organizational desk located in front of Hotel Piast one hour before the start—at approximately 10:00—and declare their intention to participate.
The race will begin on Friday, 1 May, at 11:00. The start and finish will be located on Sierpnia '80 Street. Competitors will cover a distance of 1,400 m (Sierpnia '80 Street–Asnyka Street–Bielska Street–Łukasiewicza Street–Bankowa Street–Kościelna Street–Market Square). At 11:10, primary and lower-secondary school students will start, followed at 11:40 by upper-secondary school students and seniors.
The main prizes are three trips to the European Parliament. The prizes were funded, among others, by Jerzy Szmajdziński, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, MEP Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg and Sergiusz Najar.
