In the heart of the Jizera Mountains, on the grounds of the Lower Silesian Sports Centre in Szklarska Poręba, one of the most beautiful running events in Poland will take place. The Summer Piast Run guarantees unforgettable views, healthy competition and a great atmosphere.
For adults – mountain routes full of challenges
Participants can choose between two main running routes. The mountain ultramarathon will lead participants through the most picturesque corners of the Jizera Mountains: Kozia Grzbiet, Orle, Granicznik, the scenic valley of the Izera River, Szklarska Droga, Jagnięcy Jar, Rozdroże Izerskie, Wysoki Kamień and many other locations. The route also follows sections of well-known ski trails – Wodą Mineralną and Bez Łaski. The surface is varied: plenty of gravel, as well as fast and flat sections (for the mountains). The start and finish are in Jakuszyce.
The mountain half marathon also runs through the most beautiful parts of the Jizera Mountains. Runners will go around Kozia Grzbiet to Orle and Granicznik, then along the border river Izera and the old Szklarska Droga to Rozdroże pod Cichą Równią. From there, it is straight to the finish via Dolny Dukt. It is an exceptionally varied and demanding loop – with a climb to Samolot, descents over rocks and forest sections beside which you can hear the rush of the mountain river.
For Nordic walking enthusiasts – no time pressure
The Summer Piast Run will also include a recreational Nordic walking march on the Jakuszycka Eleven route. The distance is almost 13 kilometres. This is a non-competitive march – there are no results or prizes for the fastest participants. Everyone who takes on the challenge and completes this exceptionally beautiful route, rich in scenery and nature, is a winner.
For children – the 300-metre Preschool Run
The organisers have not forgotten the youngest participants. The 14th Summer Piast Run also includes a children’s race! The Preschool Run is a recreational activity over a distance of approximately 300 metres. There is no timekeeping, results or classification. What matters is taking part and the joy of running. At the finish, all preschoolers will receive a commemorative medal – every child who starts is a winner!
