Tesco has informed employees of plans to close 32 unprofitable stores. This is part of a plan to reduce operating costs and improve the competitiveness and profitability of its Polish business.
Martin Behan, Managing Director of Tesco Polska:
We continuously analyse our stores and take appropriate decisions when we see no possibility of improving their profitability. These are difficult decisions, but they are necessary when the losses generated by these stores negatively affect the profitability of the entire company in Poland.
Fortunately, Bolesławiec’s “Tesco store” is not on this list. The following stores will be closed instead:

- Bytom – Tarnogórska
- Częstochowa – Sabinowska
- Dąbrowa Tarnowska – Sucharskiego
- Grudziądz – Wyspiańskiego
- Kluczbork – Byczyńska
