The attention of an officer from the Municipal Police Headquarters, who was shopping in one of Wrocław’s supermarkets, was drawn to a strangely behaving man. He walked back and forth along the store aisle, looking around unnaturally. At one point, the officer noticed the man he was observing move quickly toward the entrance from the sales area. Using the cart gate, the man bent down and quickly passed through it.
The officer reacted immediately. He gave chase and, jumping over the barriers, caught the man in the store’s exit doorway. The 25-year-old struggled and tried to break free. At one point, he pulled a metal object from his pocket, intending to drive the officer away. However, the man was soon successfully subdued. The intervening officer immediately notified the duty officer about everything.
It turned out that the 25-year-old had stolen 15 packages of coffee from the store. To facilitate the theft, the offender used a women’s sports bra, which he was wearing under his jacket. He placed the stolen packages of coffee under the elastic, stretchable material. The fitted garment allowed him to easily conceal the items, which became invisible beneath the jacket worn over everything.
A patrol from Psie Pole arrived at the scene a short while later and took the theft suspect to the police station. The court will now decide the man’s further fate. He may face a hefty fine, detention, or even a restriction of liberty.
