On 7 December in Warsaw, the Polish Olympic Committee hosted the Polish Yachting Association Gala, bringing together sailors from across the country to sum up the passing season. During the gala, nominations to the national sailing team were presented. It was also an opportunity for conversations, summaries and expressions of thanks.
The Bolesławiec club received thanks from PYA President Tomasz Chamera for conducting classes as part of the free PolSailing Sailing Education Programme. The thanks were accepted by Jakub Jakubowski, Commodore of the Pirat Bolesławiec Student Sailing Club and the programme’s regional coordinator. Bolesławiec was one of 14 centres in Poland offered training for the youngest sailors. Bolesławiec was particularly deserving of recognition because the programme was carried out entirely with funds from the Pirat Student Sailing Club, the PYA and the Ministry of Sport and Tourism.
During the training, 100 children from Bolesławiec and the surrounding area who spent their holidays in our town received instruction. The training venue was the Krępnica reservoir. Classes were conducted by club instructors. We hope that in the future, athletes from Bolesławiec will also receive national-team nominations at the PYA Gala. Congratulations, and we wish you continued success in your work.
