Lubin criminal investigators, working with German police, shut down a chop shop for stolen cars located in Rudna municipality.

This was where luxury cars stolen from, among other places, Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany ended up. At the chop shop, the vehicles were dismantled and their parts sold.

On the property, officers found a motorcycle and three cars (a BMW, a Mercedes and an Audi). Investigators established that the latter two had been stolen in November this year.

In addition, criminal investigators secured car parts, components, accessories and other automotive elements. These came from vehicles that have not yet been identified.

The total value of the recovered property is estimated at, quite remarkably, more than one million zlotys.

The property’s owner, a 30-year-old resident of Lubin County, fell into the officers’ hands. The suspect was completely surprised by the police visit.

The man was taken to Lubin and then brought before the prosecutor’s office, where he was charged.

The court subsequently ordered the 30-year-old to be remanded in custody for three months. He now faces up to 10 years behind bars.

The investigation is ongoing.
