Police officers from Bogatynia, together with officers from the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec, detained three suspects—two men and a woman. All three will be held accountable for staging a robbery at one of the supermarkets in Bogatynia Municipality.
The duty officer at the Bogatynia police station received a report that a man wearing a balaclava had entered the aforementioned store with an object resembling a weapon. Shouting, “This is a robbery!”, he took the cash register drawer containing nearly PLN 6,000.
It quickly emerged that the entire incident had been staged by the supermarket cashier and his acquaintances. All three suspects were detained. (Officers recovered part of the stolen cash).
The trio have already been charged. All those detained could now face up to five years in prison.
